Be Willing To Die Trying...

Be Willing to Die Trying….

The possibility of impossibility being purged is the unparalleled notion of those who dare to reach beyond preconceived limits. Oftentimes it is not that it is impossible, it’s that the universe has not found one bold enough to step beyond the invisible measure that man has set in place. Man place limits because at times the human mind can not perceive the truth of lack of restrictions set before them to achieve great surmounts of victory that has yet to be met.

Or

One limits self with counterproductive mindsets. “As a man thinketh so is he…” You create your future by the thoughts you have today. If you believe you can not overcome or accomplish; you will not! Benjamin Franklin is one who believed the possibility of impossibility of electricity could be purged to greater heights. There were many that said he was crazy and a lunatic. He ignored his naysayers and the limits that man had set in place. Perhaps a family member, friend, or teacher has told you that you and your dreams are impossible. They said it can not be accomplished. I challenge you today to do as Benjamin Franklin; move towards your idea despite opposition. Ideas are gifts from God revealing more of His greatness through humans that can be accomplished. Benjamin Franklin risked failing in the eyes of his naysayers knowing that eventually he would prove that his thought of electricity would manifest although man had yet to witness it in the manner in which he sought to reveal.

Benjamin was willing to risk his life trying to get his dream out of him. He literally stood in the midst of a violent storm holding a kite waiting for lightning to strike it. What risks are you willing to take to ensure your dreams and goals come true? Success and victory doesn’t happen by chance. You have to intentionally place in motion actions to divulge the greatness that lies within you. The world benefits from this dreamer because of his bravery, relentlessness, determination, and the ignoring of his naysayers. Benjamin Franklin courted/pursued his God-inspired idea which gave us greater usage of ELECTRICITY!!!!! He was willing to die trying.

If you have a God-inspired idea or notion be willing to die trying to make it reality. Don’t give up because others can not support or understand your idea. Be willing to risk failing in lieu of succeeding. Even mothers risk their life giving birth to that which has yet to be seen. Delivery of greatness requires risks.

Mentoring Testimonial

Speaking Above Mediocrity Mentoring Client Testimonial

Hello my name is Letecia Morgan when I first met Latrina Johnson; I was suffering from deep depression. And because of the spirit of God that dwells within her I have come leaps and bound from where I was. My husband even tells me after I’ve had my session with Latrina I come back home with such positive attitude and even a positive emotional attitude. Outside of being a life coach, she has also been a book coach in helping me write my new book. I thank God for Latrina. I thank God for the spirit that dwells within her. I hope that God will increase her territory; continue to increase her territory because I know if she has had this kind of impact on me, I know she has so much to offer to so many other women.

He Is Beautiful....

He Is Beautiful….

He is the epitome of beauty
Carefully chiseled and sculpted to perfection
Not a flaw in his reflection
His chestnut brown eyes hold me in captivation
His masculine smile drives me wild
He is beautiful

Each and every morning he gets dressed by putting his grown man on
He’s not a lady’s man, but a man that every woman wants; no needs
He’s busy contemplating and cultivating a life of legacy
He does not have time for neutral
He’s constantly in drive
Driving to the destination of determination
Determined to be a model for young boys to follow
He is beautiful

He was born in the arms of an unwed mother
He instantly became the man of the house
Not a position he bargained for in the womb
But this is the hand fate dealt him
Torn between boyhood dreams and helping his mom making ends meet
He’s constantly hearing his name being called in the streets
He is torn between being a boy and his mom needing a man
He is beautiful

In the middle of the night he hears his mom screaming for help
He hides his head under the pillow
His mother enduring another beating
Will she arise with a black eye or another sprang wrist
He is only four years old; what is he to do
The same man that torments his mother takes him to play basketball in the morning
The man that beats his mother is his father
He is beautiful

He is the epitome of beauty
Carefully chiseled and sculpted to perfection
Not a flaw in his reflection
His chestnut brown eyes hold me in captivation
His masculine smile drives me wild
He is beautiful

Behind those chestnut brown eyes is a history filled with complications
His carefully molded body was constructed to withstand the obstructions that awaited him
He reflects not his father, but the Father
His smiles reveals through his trials; he has made it
He is beautiful

Each and every morning he gets dressed by putting his grown man on
He’s not a lady’s man, but a man that every woman wants; no needs
He’s busy contemplating and cultivating a life of legacy
He does not have time for neutral
He’s constantly in drive
Driving to the destination of determination
Determined to be a model for young boys to follow
He is beautiful

He has chosen to be his own man
Not allowing the circumstance of life to force his hand
He treats women with the utmost respect
He understands that every life has to come through the womb of a woman
He loves the thought of providing for his family
He will be the example man for his daughter to marry
His son will spend a life time trying to be the man he sees
He is beautiful

He is a responsible, caring, generous, mature, dedicated, committed, loving and man of integrity.
He is beautiful

When It's Your Time...

When It’s Your Time….

As I’m looking out the window reflecting upon this cold spring day in Atlanta, I notice this beautiful fully bloomed Cherry Blossom Tree. I begin to ponder is the tree confused because the weather contradicts the season. Immediately it dawned on me, the circumstances surrounding the cherry blossom tree did not prevent it from blossoming, because it is its season to bloom.

How may this correlate to your life? I’m glad you asked the question. In this great economic hardship of recession, living in the era of all time high divorce rates, massive employment downsizing, and diseases running rampant; the circumstances surrounding your immediate environment will not prevent you from reaching maximum levels of success when you are in your season of blessings. YES!!! You will stand as the above mentioned cherry blossom tree. People will wonder how you are blossoming when the season you’re in contradicts the “weather”. They will believe it is impossible for you to reach the level of success that awaits you. You will be noticed. You are in your season of blooming!!!

Are We Living In Our Last Days?

Are We Living In Our Last Days?

Someone asked me, “Latrina do you think we are living in the last days?” And I responded, “What do you mean?” and they said, “Do you think the world is coming to an end?”

And here is what I have to say:

Yes, everyday we are living in the possibility of our last moment. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Is the world coming to an end? It will come to an end as you know it, once death knocks on your door. Although it does not necessarily take death to end the world as you know it, however eventually your existence as you've experienced it will end. I would not suggest one consume oneself with the world “ending”, but how one chooses to live their life in each and every moment.

Death is inevitable whether it is due to the world ending or one dying. Ultimately there is an end. The question at hand; are you preparing for your end. If you were to die or the world end today; have you lived out the reason for your being, made amends where necessary, loved when opportunity presented itself, and/or given life all that you have?

Yes everyday; everyone is one day closer to dying. Yes everyday; everyone is closer to the end. Yes, everyone at a point will experience the world ending.

I am SAM

I am SAM….

In the embodiment of spiritual evolution
I cry from the stretching
I’m being torn and broken
I scream because it hurts
Paaaaiiiiiiiinnnn!!!!!
Why me? Why now?
The torment is excruciating
This pain is not in the physical but it’s in the mental
There’s no prescription
I love you

I want to return to my mother’s womb
Where there is only comfort and serenity
Heaven and earth has rested its idiom on my spiritual shoulders
Because of that it was determined that my being was dilapidated
And I had to be blown into millions of pieces
The sign on me reads…under construction
The bulldozer of life came crushing against my existence
Oh the progress of being rebuilt
I scream because it hurts
Paaaaiiiiiiiinnnn!!!!!
I love you

I lay in the invisible hospital room of recovery
My nurses are angels and my doctor is the Lord
The Doctor tells me to get plenty of rest
And the angels whisper this is just a test
In and out of consciousness I’m trying to remember my name
I am going through this proverbial change
My pain is for the love I have for you
I scream because it hurts
Paaaaiiiiiiiinnnn!!!!!
I love you

I could quit
But I keep seeing your face in my vision
I endure this nightmare so you can dare to dream
As I’m being reconstructed brick by brick
Each brick has at least ten names
And the Doctor tells me that each name on each brick
Is waiting and let not their wait be in vain
In and out of consciousness I’m trying to remember my name
I am going through this proverbial change
My pain is for the love I have for you
I scream because it hurts
Paaaaiiiiiiiinnnn!!!!!
I love you

The sign on me now reads… Open for business
I’ve passed all inspections
I have been qualified to stand as the voice of reason
I lost my identity in the reconstruction
The Doctor gave me a new name
The Doctor said that I have been built on a solid foundation
I am not the same as before
He had to do surgical removal of all that I was
And replaced it with the essential that He saw fit
In this new building my spiritual evolution would cause me to Speak Above Mediocrity
The Doctor has named me SAM.
I am SAM

For every trial, tear, disappointment and/or torment
I did not quit because
I love you

Sincerely,

SAM

Greatness Comes In Small Packages Too

Greatness Comes In Small Packages Too

Oftentimes one is judge by its size and/or appearance. Some are quick to draw conclusion about another’s strengths, capabilities, or weaknesses simply based on one’s size.

One of the most amazing and beautiful creatures is that of the hummingbird. It is the smallest of all birds and the smallest animal having a backbone. The average size of a hummingbird is less than 4inches long. The first thing that most people say when witnessing a hummingbird, “Oh it is so small.”

How does the hummingbird compare to all other birds? The humming bird stands independently and confidently in its uniqueness. It doesn’t feel the need to compete or compare itself to other birds.

The humming bird can beat its wings up to 80 times per second during normal flight and 200 times per second during a courtship dive!! The humming bird is small and powerful.

Interestingly, because the humming bird can rotate their wings in a circle, they are the only birds that can fly backwards, forwards, up, down, sideways, and hover in mid air.

The humming bird teaches humans a great lesson. Love yourself exactly as God created you, because you are unique and greatness is in the inside of you too.

Eagle vs Chicken Mentality-Which Do You Have?

Eagle Mentality vs Chicken Mentality-Which do you have?

Have you’ve ever encountered a person with enormous potential to produce greatness? As a Life Guidance Mentor, I encounter this frequently. Recently, I’ve come to realize; some people have eagle potential, but a chicken mind. They are well equipped to reach maximum levels of success, but they have determined within themselves to stay in a safe place of comfort. It’s like they are playing a game of hide and seek. Greatness keeps looking for them, but they hide. They hide behind fake pretentious business “Oh I’ll be out of town”, or “I don’t have enough time”, or “Next time I will”, or “Only if I had…” Their mentality keeps them in the chicken coop; a mentality of excuses to remain scratching in the dirt; to remain in mediocrity.

The eagle mentality soars high going beyond the call of duty. It does not believe in impossibilities. It defies all reason and logic; taking bold risks without the fear of failure. The eagle realizes if it begins to dive all it has to do is open its wings and it will fly. Eliminating all blocks to success and willing to go through any test. The eagle refuses to remain on the ground because it sets its aim among the clouds. Each and everyday the eagle intentionally says, “I will be amongst the clouds”. –Speaking Above Mediocrity™

The eagle befriended the chicken. He saw the chicken’s potential. He desperately wanted the chicken to fly. The eagle did not understand the mentality of a chicken. What’s interesting about the chicken; he cheered the eagle on to fly and even desired to fly himself, but he was afraid to try. The eagle would encourage the chicken to fly and at times even visited him in his chicken’s coop. Then one day the eagle had to part ways with the chicken. The altitude and places that the eagle dared to venture, unfortunately the chicken’s mentality kept the chicken in the coop with other like minded individuals. “Birds of a feather flock together.” Watch the company you keep. [coop- a place of mediocrity]

The eagle was somewhat sad for the chicken. However, having an eagle’s mentality is to know when to let those who chooses to remain in a state of bareness; go. An eagle, because of their mind at times has to fly solo. Greatness will take you to places where others dare or not permitted to go. Allow your thoughts to take you to heights of greatness.

The Quest Begins As Soon As You Ask The Question; “Why was I created?”

The Quest Begins As Soon As You Ask The Question; “Why was I created?”

It’s humans’ fundamental nature to seek out the reasoning for his/her existence. When we as humans compose a creation; the creation fully understand its existence and operate accordingly. Example: a bathtub is created for humans to bathe. One may decide to use the bathtub to wash clothes however, it was created for the means to allow humans to clean themselves.

In other words, the creation can serve in other capacities other than the reason it was created, but ultimately it was created for a specific reason. Another example: a chair is created for the sitting of a human, but one can place a stack of books on it, or even stand on the chair, but it was created for a human to sit on it.

You may be operating in other capacities other than which you were created specifically to carry out. Humans are spiritual beings connected to our Spiritual Creator. We have an innate sense of knowing when we’re not operating in the purpose in which we were created. Our spirit man will begin to nudge our physical man to get connected to our Creator and dispel the mystery of our being. Generally the quest begins the as soon as you ask the question, “Why was I created?”

You were created by a divine God that has a specific plan for your life. Your presence on earth is not an accident. Those gifts, talents, and unique qualities that you possess are needed. Go ahead ask the question so your quest can begin.

I Have Been Rejected But That Does Not Stop My Destiny

I Have Been Rejected But That Does Not Stop My Destiny!

Reject (n) the person or thing set aside as inferior in quality.[define.com]

There have been some networks I’ve tried to establish that failed. They failed because they/the networks perceived me as inferior in quality.

As I think on the above statement I am reminded of the time in which I decided to take swimming lessons as an adult.

Here’s an excerpt from my book, ‘Change Your Life by Changing Your Mind’- “The male instructor welcomed all of the returning students. I was shocked! I didn’t do enough research. This class was a continuum session from the previous summer. Please do adequate research! I was totally taken off guard and embarrassed. The instructor and the class began doing warm-up exercises in the pool that I was not capable of doing. The female instructor took me by the hand and led me to the three feet end of the pool. Actually, it was a different pool all together. She asked what my level of experience was and I said, “Bathtub.” You have to be honest with yourself as well as others in order to grow or go to the next level. If God sends someone to assist you along your journey they will need to know exactly what type of assistance you need. This is a time when you are embarking on a journey and taking the necessary steps to equip yourself for what lies ahead. She began by teaching me how to hold my breath beneath the water. Every time the water touched my chin, I felt as if I were drowning. I would begin to panic. I would frantically gasp for air. The instructor would calmly say just stand up and I would have to remind myself, “Oh yeah it’s only three feet of water.”

There will be times obstacles that you are facing will seem like mountains but they are hills. Just stand up. Don’t allow the obstacle to overpower you. Remember you have in your ability to subdue and reign. Just stand up. Stand in the power within you. The entire first day I spent time only with the female instructor; separated from the rest of the class. I felt humiliated. At the end of the session the female instructor and I joined the other instructor and students. The class was then dismissed. As I was walking to my car I was hoping the other students didn’t happen to notice they were more advanced than myself, then all of a sudden I began to vomit. I mean everywhere. The entire class made a complete circle around me and watched me vomit. I wanted to just vanish at that very moment. They all showed genuine concern making sure I was ok and asking would I be able to drive myself home. I wallowed in the hugest pot of embarrassment. I got into my car and drove off. I vowed to never return. Day two I showed up because I am no quitter! I am relentless and the object of the goal was to learn how to swim. I had to face all of my classmates and continue to reach for my goal in the face of my humiliation. Just remember the same ones to see you fail will be the same ones to see you succeed.
The Same Ones To See You Fail Will Be The Same Ones To See You Succeed.

The male instructor looked at the female instructor and said in a very mean tone with aggravation on his face “Are you going to help her (referring to me) because she is so far behind the other students, I just don’t have time.” The female instructor took me by the hand and said, “I would love to help you.”

The male instructor rejected me because he saw me as inferior to those he were surrounded by. At the end of the ten day swimming class, I was more advanced than all the students in the class. I was swimming from one side of the pool to the other, diving off of the diving board, doing the butterfly, backstroke, and etc. YES!!!! The male instructor was impressed. He offered to pay for my next lesson. I declined, because I did not set out to impress him, but to accomplish the goal of learning how to swim. And although he rejected to assist me…please my destiny could not be stopped!!!!

So, when you are rejected because they can not foretell your end result, honey keep on pursuing your goal. You have the capability to surpass those you sought connections with and be grateful to those who take you by the hand until you have reached your destination. Others value of you, do not define your worth or your destiny.

A Real Man Loves Like This....

A Real Man Loves Like this….

He holds her in the highest regard
Respecting her mind, body, and soul
Realizing each man has to travel through the womb of her
And her womb is the incubator of life yet to unfold
He gently caresses her breasts knowing it is a life sustainer
And not just for lustful flesh

He does not play mind games
Or tries to convince her to lower her worth
But being a real man; he reminds her that she is priceless
He doesn’t wine and dine her in hopes of meaningless sex
But he spends quality time getting to know her
Helping her to bring out her best

He is not afraid to fall in love
He loves her passionately, deeply, and infinitely
He adorns her with hugs and kisses
And dresses her in the finest clothes
Because he knows a wife is a reflection of him
Yes, I said a wife
Because a real man will marry her

He will not contribute the ruins of this world
But he will love her like Christ loves the church
Giving her the best of him at all times
He will cover his household with prayer
Making it so easy for her to submit to him
He will intuitively protect her and their offsprings

A real man is not afraid to apologize when has done wrong
Taking responsibility for the welfare of his home
He leads his family to peace, prosperity, love, and spirituality
Being committed to one woman at all times
Showing his daughter how a man is suppose to love her
And giving his son an example of how to be a real man
He prays before he speaks
He prays before he acts
He can only love her as Christ loves the church if he first loves God
He is led by the Holy Spirit
A real man loves from the spirit

I Don't Need Your Approval To Be Great!

I Don’t Need Your Approval to be Great!

Transforming into the fullness of which you’re destined to be, is a vigorous process and sometimes a lonely one. Much like the caterpillar, it is first birthed as a worm. It is a well able, functioning body. It moves, eats, and breaths. Now the caterpillar could settle at this point in his life. The caterpillar could decide this period of his journey is good enough. But God has shown the caterpillar his purpose. God has given the caterpillar a vision! The caterpillar knows if it stops at this point it will not fulfill its destiny. The caterpillar’s purpose is to become a butterfly.

When the caterpillar goes into the next phase of his life, he enters the womb of a cocoon. He is placed in isolation. During this time he is being reconnected to his Creator. His Creator has to isolate him, because once he comes out of the cocoon, he has to do something he has never done. The caterpillar will have to fly! Can anyone other than God, turn the caterpillar into a butterfly and command it to fly, without lessons? I never heard of anyone other than God being able to make such a command. When the caterpillar is in the womb of the cocoon, God is preparing him to step boldly and confidently into his purpose. God knows that once he emerges from the cocoon, immediately he will be told that he cannot fly. God wants to encourage and esteem the caterpillar.

God knows that he will hear immediately from others, “I remember when you were a caterpillar, what qualifies you to fly? Who told you that you could fly? And how did you get those wings? You are just a worm with wings. Common sense should tell you, you cannot fly. Surely, you don’t think you can fly?” The caterpillar will also hear, “No one taught you to fly. What qualifies you?" The butterfly will say, “God qualifies me.” The butterfly will begin to testify, “When I was in the womb of the cocoon, God fellowshipped with me. God told me that I am a butterfly, wonderfully and beautifully made and I will fly. So, when I emerged out of the cocoon, out of my lonely place, out of my place of isolation, out of my place of struggle, I believed what God said and I can fly. I fly with the assurance of being processed by God. And can’t anybody talk me out of who I am. No, I’ve never had flying lessons and yes I was a caterpillar and yes you are amazed. I fly boldly because my elevation came from God. And can’t you or anyone else talk me out of who I am. I am a butterfly. I fly without your permission or approval.”

Many had the opportunity to witness the caterpillar in its ugly phases, in its trying phases and in its challenging phases. The same ones will also see it in its fullest manifestation of a butterfly. Some will not witness the process, but marvel at the final manifestation. The butterfly fulfills its purpose.

She loves the man that rapes her mother…

She loves the man that rapes her mother…

She turns her face towards the wall
Her head is bowed as her tears drench the cherry wood floor
She wipes her tears with her braided ponytail so cleverly wrapped in a yellow and white polka dot bow
She lifts her head up towards the sky
Her tattered voice cries, “God please help momma”

In the late night hour, the shattering of breaking dishes awakens her
Her mother screams for help
The sun shines bright, but there is darkness in the home
Mother arises with a black eye
There are no words exchanged between her and mom
Silence
Mom combs her hair and says, “Do not be with a man that beats you”
Mom is crying
Daughter is sitting still

Daddy loves her tenderly
Daughter loves him immensely
He treats her like a fragile dandelion
Daddy kisses her on the forehead and protects her

He calls mom a bitch and a whore
Throws her down on the floor
Why don’t the neighbors come help her
God help her PLEASE

Mom says to daughter, “When your father is beating me go to your room and don’t come out, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Daughter is five years old
Daughter's existence is consumed with confusion
Best daddy in the world
Worst husband in the world

Momma went to the hospital today
She came back with a broken arm
Daddy broke mommy's arm
Mommy stays
Why does mommy stay

Daddy tells daughter that she is the most precious thing on earth
Daughter adores daddy
Daddy beats mommy
Daughter loves mommy
Mommy protects daughter
Daddy loves mommy and daughter

Daughter is walking dead
She is numb
She has lost her laughter
This has to be an awful type of wicked to love the man that rapes her mother
She lives daily with the guilt of loving the man that beats her mommy

TAKE A STAND AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE…IT IS EVIL

Words are spiritual seeds planted in the womb of the earth's atmosphere guranteeing to yield the fruits or weeds of that which you speak. That which is beautiful and beyond human comprehension was created by the words of an infinite and omnipotent God, "Let there be...And it was so..." Being made in His image/likeness, we too possess the same ability to frame our world based on the words we speak. Life and death truly lies within the tongue.

We are here to eradicate any resemblances of mediocrity by speaking above mediocrity. Check back regularly for free Life Guidance Mentoring tips and words of empowerement.

Speaking Above Mediocrity provides: private and group Life Guidance Mentoring, Empowerment Seminars/Workshops, Empowerment CDs and Empowerment Manuals.
